If you’re looking for live music, Athens, TX is the place to be. We have many venues, so you can come out for a casual night of great tunes, tasty food, and good drinks. Check out a few of our favorite spots!
XL’N Pool Hall & Club
For a laid-back night, this is the place to come. Most Saturdays, they host live bands to set the mood for the evening. They have a full liquor bar and whether you’re an experienced pool player or a beginner you can take advantage of their custom eight-foot pool tables. Alcohol is only intended for adults of the legal drinking age. Drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
The Texan
This place is the premier live venue of East Texas, and it’s in our own backyard! They host a wide range of artists playing from nearly every genre, including country, rock, and folk. The bands they feature are a great mix of local and national artists. They also host many other events, such as comedy nights or even Circus on Ice.
On the Docks Seafood Shack
This restaurant is the perfect place to go for delicious seafood and great music. Almost every weekend, they feature live performers on their covered outdoor stage so that people dining on the patio can enjoy the tunes. Their menu is packed with any seafood you could dream of, and the friendly servers will make sure you enjoy the evening by treating you to warm Southern hospitality.
Liberty Hall
To soak up the arts and culture in our area, this spot is a good place to start! Since it was established in 1930, this theatre has brought music, comedy, and classic films to eager audiences. In 2011, it received some renovations and now has a great art deco atmosphere. The theatre can fit a crowd of three hundred people, which makes it a perfect size for intimate concerts.
Moontower at the Oaks
This little bar and grill has a relaxing atmosphere that you’ll keep coming back for. Take a seat on their spacious patio, which has a great view of the nearby golf course where you can play a few holes after you eat. Often, they’ll have live music to entertain you while you hang out. The casual place draws in a friendly crowd, so you’re sure to feel welcome.
The Forge
This bar and grill is a great spot to kick back and listen to live and local artists. They have music nights from Wednesday through Saturday for their Front Porch Music Series, and they always put on a good show. They also have a menu for every meal of the day, so this place is a good visit anytime! Their rustic decor is unique, and you simply have to come for yourself to see.
