Lincoln added a new model to its lineup in 2020, and that vehicle continues to get better with each model year. Get to know the all-new 2022 Aviator, a sleek and stylish SUV that’s packed with upscale features.

Exterior Equipment

The 2022 Lincoln Aviator is a mid-sized, three-row SUV offered in five trim levels: Standard, Reserve, Black Label, Grand Touring, and Grand Touring Black Label. It fits between the MKC and Navigator in the Lincoln lineup in terms of size. Standard exterior equipment includes LED front lighting, roof rails, and a power lift gate. As you move through the higher trims, you can also get options like soft-close doors and turn-adaptive headlights.

One update made for the 2022 model year is the addition of the Appearance package, which is available on the base trim level. It bundles 20-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof.

Power Beneath the Hood

The lower three trim levels of the 2022 Aviator come equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The two Grand Touring trims have a 3.0-liter turbocharged hybrid V-6 engine rated at 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Standard and Reserve trims, while all-wheel drive is standard on the other three trims.

The driving performance of the Aviator doesn’t disappoint. In speed testing, the all-wheel-drive model equipped with the standard engine went from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds, putting it close to the top of the segment. You can also upgrade the SUV to include Lincoln’s adaptive suspension, which delivers a more comfortable ride while placing more control in your hands.

Luxurious Cabin

The Aviator is a smaller SUV in the lineup, but it boasts plenty of space for up to seven people throughout its three rows of seating. Even the base model comes equipped with keyless entry and ignition, tri-zone automatic climate control, power and heated front seats, and a power-folding third row. On the tech side, it includes Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, navigation, an onboard Wi-Fi hot spot, and a 10.3-inch touch screen as standard.

For a more comfortable cabin, consider adding some of the features offered with the higher trims. Some of these include heated and ventilated front- and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, 30-way power-adjustable front seats, and premium upholstery. The Aviator is also offered with an upgraded 28-speaker audio system and wireless device charging.

Advanced Safety Suite

All 2022 Aviator models come with lane-keeping assist, a rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic braking, stability and traction control, and air bags throughout the cabin. The optional Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus package bundles evasive steering assist, an automated parking system, adaptive cruise control, and an advanced lane-keeping system.

It’s easy to see why SUV shoppers love the Aviator, and the upcoming 2022 model is no exception. Lincoln has cut the price of this SUV for 2022, so take one for a test drive here at Brinson Ford Lincoln of Athens when the latest models become available.
