4. Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center

Another great attraction right here in Athens is the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center. With huge aquariums displaying native fish, alligators, amphibians, and other watery creatures, it’s a great way to learn about the natural world and a favorite with families.
The center is open 9am to 4pm Tuesday through Saturday and 1pm to 4pm on Sundays. There’s a visitor center and plenty of onsite parking.

5. Cedar Creek Reservoir

If you love fun on the water, Cedar Creek Reservoir is the place for you. You can enjoy boating on the water, bird watching, or try water sports.
The most popular activity here is fishing. The reservoir is well stocked with a wide variety of fish, including catfish, bass, and crappie.

Hungry? There’s sure to be something to your liking right here in town. Along with the usual national chains, there are some great local eateries, offering down-home classics and fare from around the world.
